Different businesses, different tablets, same convenience

Two central Arkansas small businesses couldn’t be more different, but both are finding opportunities to use tablets in their operations.

BriteSun Data Services offers residential and commercial information technology services. Owner/operator Anthony Cipriano of Maumelle likes the flexibility, portability, and connectivity of his tablet.

“I found myself out on the road a lot here locally, driving around and not having connectivity with my laptop, or I didn’t want to carry my laptop everywhere I went,” he said. “So I found myself responding on my phone more often than not, and it’s sometimes a little difficult to respond to emails, lengthy emails anyway, on your phone. I decided to go with an iPad.”

Cipriano also uses his iPad when configuring routers and switches, a service his business offers. “I don’t necessarily have to have my laptop to perform those tasks when I’m out in the field,” he said.

See what else Anthony has to say about incorporating the iPad into his business operations (and working with ASBTDC):

Laurie Harrison already had an Android tablet, the Samsung Galaxy, when she opened her business, Le Pops Gourmet Ice Lollies. Located in the River Market in downtown Little Rock, Le Pops serves gourmet frozen pops Laurie makes by hand using fresh, mostly local ingredients.

“I already had a tablet and thought there would be lots of ways to use it in my business,” said Laurie.

She uses her tablet to update the business’s Facebook page with flavors of the day, photos, and trivia questions. Harrison is interested in adding apps that will allow her to track inventory, manage customer rewards programs, and more. The first-time entrepreneur has some ideas in mind, as she explains here:
