Google Analytics Update Adds Demographics

June 4, 2014 Timothy Mobile Marketing

Google has updated their popular Google Analytics product to support demographics. Most existing users will need to update your analytics tracking code to support the new capability. Updating consists of adding a single line of text near the end of your existing analytics tracking fragment.

What’s the payoff for the extra effort and nervousness? How about being able to create custom reports with age, gender, affinity and other categories? You could discover what 25 year old women are interested in or where in your sales funnel 55 year-old men are bailing out. Think of the possibilities!

We found a good article on creating and using Google Analytics Demographics & Interests Reports.

Whether you have an immediate need or not for demographic data, you should go ahead and update your analytics fragment so the data is stored for future access and analysis.
